August was our anniversary month and as we celebrate 41 years of Isaac’s we are excited to start sharing stories about one of the things that makes our company so great: the members of our restaurant teams!
First up, we’d like to introduce the most-tenured member on our team: Jeanine, the head server from our Ephrata location, who has worked with us for 39 years! Jeanine started her career with Isaac’s at our Ephrata location in 1985. We only had one location at the time…our flagship store in downtown Lancaster. Jeanine had never heard of Isaac’s but saw we were hiring for the Ephrata location and decided to apply. She actually started before it opened and spent part of her early days painting walls and helping to ready the location for business.
And so Jeanine has been a member of our Ephrata team for 39 years. Although she did spend much of her career working at nearby locations and helping to train new hires for new store openings, Ephrata has always been her home.
When asked what has kept Jeanine at Isaac’s all these years she said it was, of course, her coworkers and the customers she has grown to know during her tenure. “I remember,” she said, “[Isaac’s founder] Phil Wenger had said to me to treat the customers as if they owned the place, as if they are friends, and everything will fall into place; and that is what I have always tried to remember.” Keeping this in mind has served Jeanine well, as she has built quite a following of regular customers who always request her when they dine in.
“Isaac’s is a good company,” Jeanine continues, “and one I am proud to be a part of. We have good food and are a good place for people to grow in their careers.”
As Isaac’s looks to the future she is excited to see how Isaac’s continues to change and grow as we continue to integrate our own-brewed beer into our existing restaurants.
Thank you, Jeanine, for 39 wonderful years!
